Fatal Fury City of The Wolves Gets A New Trailer

By Kevin KellyJune 7, 2024

Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves has returned with a new trailer for Summer Games Fest this year. The trailer starts off with an arcade backdrop with Fatal Fury 2 cabinets. The classic showdown of Geese Howard and Terry Bogard squaring off with some Laurence Blood’s stage fights, also.

The trailer moves to a present stage with protagonists Terry Bogard and Rock Howard doing the fist bumps in City of The Wolves. The stage does resemble one of Rock’s dear old dad’s – Geese Howard – in previous Fatal Fury titles. This could be a cutscene to solidfy a possible promise they’ve made. Hotaru has also been seen in this backdrop, which could mean that Geese Tower hasn’t been remodeled since the owner’s passing. The rest of the known roster also appears in the trailer.

The pirate queen of Southtown – B. Janet is returning with her crew. She is joined by a newcomer – Vox Reaper – who’s giving Terry a bit of a run for his arcade coin money. The move he’s doing looks similar to one of Freeman’s moveset. As for appearances, B Janet’s been in King of Fighters games post her Mark of the Wolves debut. The shoes seem to be the same for B Janet, too. The super move didn’t wear them out at all. Some gameplay has been shown throughout the trailer.

The King of Fighting Game Callbacks

The trailer ends things off with Kushnood… err Marco Rodriguez breaking beer bottles with a single chop. This is pretty much a callback to Art of Fighting‘s bonus round where his master ends up doing it. Street Fighter VI has brought back their bonus round from Third Strike, but with a massive rig to break apart instead. A small break from the normal fights is always fun.

Surprisingly, both B. Janet and Vox Reaper have separate trailers released today during Summer Games Fest. We’ll be covering these in their own posts later on.

Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves will be available with an early 2025 date on PlayStation 4 | 5, XBox Series X | S, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
