Street Fighter 6 and Fatal Fury Updates Coming From Summer Games Fest

Summer Games Fest 2024 is not too far away and with it comes a new showcase, full of new games and updates. Among the games highlighted, Street Fighter 6 and Fatal Fury: City of The Wolves will be in attendance. Both Street Fighter 6’s Akuma and City of the Wolves‘ Rock Howard have made appearances, in the trailer, next to some previously released games this year.

For both titles, the timing is far from coincidental. Street Fighter 6 is celebrating its 1-year anniversary post-release. With Evo 2024 right around the corner, season 2 DLC news and changes are expected to come soon. About two weeks ago, Akuma was the last character to be released through the season 1 DLC roster. It would make sense to get something out as soon as possible to prep for Evo 2024 just in case a new character is expected to come.

What About City of The Wolves?

City of the Wolves is a bit far out in terms of release. Yet there have been seververal match videos that were recorded from City of the Wolves demo at Evo Japan 2024. If King of Fighters XV is an indication of what to expect, more character gameplay trailers will be released soon from the long-awaited sequel. Marco Rodrigues was the last character to be shown from City of the Wolves. King of Fighters XV had nearly a gameplay trailer, for their initial roster, every week for characters up to the release.

SNK would probably play this out in the same fashion, but 2025 is a bit further than what’s expected. Marco’s trailer’s release was a month away, also. SNK’s Facebook page is now posting the revealed characters and their information on voiceovers and backstories. Tizoc is currently the latest character shown.

Regardless of that, it feels pretty nostalgic to see both a current Street Fighter and a Fatal Fury release being brought up in the same trailer or conversation. I’m clearly here for it!
