Far Cry 5 Announcement Trailer Has Been Released

By Keith MitchellMay 26, 2017

There’s trouble brewing in Montana

Ubisoft has been teasing the official announcement trailer for Far Cry 5 for the past week. Over the time span, they’ve treated us to a calming and somewhat relaxing environment, which has provided the exact opposite of what many expected. Well, that’s all about the change as the shit hits the fan in the official announcement trailer.

Check out the trailer to see what we’re referring to.

Ubisoft has been known to tackle some pretty hairy scenarios with their games and they don’t look to be letting up. In Far Cry 5, it looks like we’ll be involved with a cult/compound of sorts. The once peaceful town of Hope County erupts into violence when a madman attempts to force his “religion” onto the townsfolks. This also marks the first time that a Far Cry game takes place in North American. Hope County, where we see in the trailer, is located in Montana. We’ve been to Africa, the Himalayas, the past,  jungles and more – but now’ it’s America’s turn. I don’t about you, but the change of pace is welcomed and I like that they’re tackling out backyard.

The plot of this entry is that a character, “The Father” Joesph Seed and his children have decided to make Hope County their new home. Of course, this is going to be met with some resistance in the form of Pastor Jerome, Mary May, and Nick Rye – residents of the town. We’ll actually be playing the role of a deputy sheriff that has come looking for Joesph Seed and ultimately gets stuck in the middle of this mess. Another first is that this time around, you’ll be able to choice both your gender and race. Sadly, we’re in for a wait as the game doesn’t release until Q1 2018.

Seems interesting, outside of this, that’s all we know about the setting. I’m sure that with E3 2017 right around the corner, we’ll find out more.

Far Cry 5 has been announced for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. No mention if we’ll see this title on the Nintendo Switch.
