During PlayStation’s State of Play today, Square Enix showed off quite a bit of footage of Final Fantasy VII Revelation. What’s more, the third part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy now has a release date. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will arrive on April 8th, 2027. The announcement kicked off with the release date trailer.
But the State of Play provided a wealth of information, including a ten-minute look at a number of new and returning gameplay features. Final Fantasy VII Revelation will keep the Synergy System from Rebirth, which allows characters to team-up in their attacks. Combat can take place on foot, as always, but also while riding a Chocobo now.
The new footage also shows off more of the FITS system. This new addition essentially works as a wearable job system. Characters can alter their class by equipping certain outfits. Previously, we saw Cloud’s Warrior FIT and Tifa’s Black Mage FIT. Today, we got to see Cid’s Knight FIT and Vincent’s Summoner FIT. The Knight FIT focuses on defense and drawing attention. The Summoner FIT fittingly allows for coordinated attacks with Summons.
The new Revelation footage also shows extended looks at the pilotable Highwind and the city of Wutai. It also features the return of the Gongaga region, showcasing side quests there. Side quests now provide the choice for an individual character take the lead. And card game enthusiasts rejoice. Queen’s Blood is back, baby. Check out the footage below.
If a ten-minute look at Revelation isn’t enough, Naoki Hamaguchi and team also revealed the release date of April 8th for the title. The game has a standard edition, deluxe edition, and a collector’s edition. They’re all available for preorder now.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will arrive for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on April 8th, 2027.
