Valve has officially confirmed that the new Steam Controller will go on sale on May 4, 2026, priced at $99.
You may remember that content creator Techytalk released his hands-on impressions of the controller earlier than expected, which quickly led to questions about who else had access to the hardware and whether Valve was preparing to put the controller up for sale soon. Well, now we have our answer.
While this was supposed to be released alongside the Steam Machine, but given the current state of PCs, being that everything is getting so expensive and nearly impossible to get your hands on, the Steam Machine may further away than Valve wants it to be. Seriously, have you seen how much RAM is going for these days? So, while that all is sub-optimal, we do at least get the controller.
Sadly, we did not get early access to the Steam Controller, so we will be right there with the rest of you as we try to land one for testing and review. Chances are this thing will sell out quickly, so if you are looking to snag one, be sure to hit up Steam Hardware page on May 4 at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT and cross your fingers that it does not disappear before you get there.
But, if you want to find out more about Steam Controller, several content creators and outlets did get early access to the controller, and you can see what they think about it below.
Hype aside, I have been waiting to get my hands on the Steam Controller. I mainly play games on PC, and I tend to move between my handheld, my gaming PC at my desk, and my TV PC setup, so this would be a great way to put the controller through its paces.
And yes, I was also someone who enjoyed the original Steam Controller, so I am looking forward to seeing just how much of a jump this new controller really is.
