The Last Of Us Season 2 Brings In Big Ratings During Season Premiere

And this is just the beginning...

The Last of Us, The Last Of Us Season 2

While it’s true that the “main TV seasons” are starting to wind down on mainstream cable stations, it’s also true that some seasons and shows are just starting. One of the biggest ones all year is that of The Last Of Us Season 2. Fans have been waiting for Season 2 ever since the end of Season 1 (read our review!), and they’re hoping that it will live up to the hype that was put around it. The good news is that critics and fans do seem to like it overall, and the viewership numbers were also incredibly strong.

As noted by Deadline, The Last Of Us Season 2 brought in 5.3 million viewers for its premiere. That’s pretty impressive, as it beat out what Season 1’s premiere did by about 10%. Another thing to note is that in the lead-up to the season premiere, there was a large surge on Max for Season 1, as people were rewatching it en masse.

Now, whether the second season lives up to the expectations and the quality of Season 1 remains to be seen, but there are indications it will be good. It needs to be remembered, though, that Season 2 won’t completely follow the second game. The new season is only seven episodes, and the game’s plot will be spread out across multiple seasons, with Season 3 already being greenlit before Sunday’s premiere.
