2K Sports has officially revealed the cover stars for NBA 2K27, the newest entry in the long-running basketball series developed by Visual Concepts and published by 2K.
Leading the Standard Edition is San Antonio Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama. The center recently became the first player in NBA history to earn the Defensive Player of the Year award unanimously, making him the face of this year’s standard release.
The Deluxe Edition will spotlight Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark. Following her 2024 Kia WNBA Rookie of the Year campaign and multiple WNBA All-Star appearances, Clark has become one of the biggest names in basketball and will headline the deluxe edition release.
Rounding out the trio is Chicago Bulls icon Derrick Rose, who will feature on the limited-time Ultra Edition. Rose remains one of the league’s most memorable stars, earning three NBA All-Star selections and becoming the youngest MVP in NBA history.
NBA 2K27 is scheduled to launch on September 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and Nintendo Switch 2. Players who purchase either the Deluxe or Ultra Edition will gain access to the game early, with Early Access beginning on August 28, 2026, at 5:00 PM BST.
This year’s 2K is special to me for one reason: it’s the first year I’m going in, not being the brother that played the most. My older brother loves 2K, and I hope he is as excited as I am. Something interesting is that Victor Wembanyama is on the cover. I hope that defence is something they focus on this year. Timed shooting last year was a spectacular addition and doesn’t need to be touched. Defence, on the other hand, had lots of flaws.
Discussing the cover athletes, Zak Armitage, Senior Vice President and General Manager of NBA 2K, said each player represents an unmatched dedication to basketball. He highlighted Wembanyama’s ability to redefine the role of a big man, Clark’s impact on women’s basketball and shooting range, and Rose’s explosive style of play and perseverance through adversity. According to Armitage, that relentless commitment mirrors the spirit behind NBA 2K27.
Victor Wembanyama also shared his excitement about appearing on the cover, explaining that basketball extends far beyond the arena and that NBA 2K has become a place where players can continue learning and living the sport at any time. He called joining the list of athletes featured on the cover a dream come true.
Caitlin Clark said being featured on NBA 2K27 carries extra significance because of the game’s global reach. She added that becoming the first WNBA player to receive her own worldwide cover is an important moment for women’s basketball and something she is proud to represent.
Derrick Rose reflected on his journey from appearing on the cover of NBA 2K13 to now receiving an edition dedicated entirely to him. He credited coaches, teammates, and fans for helping shape his career and said he hopes his story encourages young athletes to stay committed and trust that hard work will pay off.
NBA 2K27 is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, while Nintendo Switch 2 players can add the game to their wish lists.
The Standard Edition is priced at £59.99 and includes Victor Wembanyama on the cover. It launches on September 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
The £89.99 Deluxe Edition features Caitlin Clark. It includes 100,000 VC, MyCAREER bonuses such as Skill Boosts, Gatorade Boosts, Wembanyama and Clark jerseys, a 2-hour 2XP Coin, as well as MyTEAM rewards including Series 1 packs, a Team Selection, a Triple Threat Park Free Agent Pack, and another 2-hour 2XP Coin. Buyers also receive Early Access beginning August 28.
Finally, the £129.99 Ultra Edition, available only until September 6, celebrates Derrick Rose. Alongside all Deluxe Edition content, it adds 35,000 extra VC, a Season 1 Pro Pass, the Summer Season Pass Pro Pass Bundle covering Seasons 7 through 9, the Roses Oversized Hoodie for MyCAREER, premium MyTEAM player cards including a guaranteed 98 OVR card in December 2026 and a guaranteed Invincible card in May 2027.
Players who already own NBA 2K26 and pre-order the Ultra Edition on the same platform will also receive a 10% discount.
