Former Nintendo Employees Praise Culture and Leadership Of Company

Nintendo knows how to inspire greatness in others.

Given where the gaming industry is right now, it’s not the most unbelievable thing in the world to hear that a company that is “known for greatness” has a serious problem within its ranks due to bad leadership, a focus on profit over quality, etc. That’s a big reason why we’ve had so many layoffs over the years, with more inevitably coming. So, it’s actually refreshing to hear when those who are no longer with certain companies praise their former workplaces. As noted by Automation Media, a trio of former Nintendo employees did just that on Twitter.

The first to start the trend was Takaya Imamura, who posted on Twitter these words of his time at the company:

“There were so many incredible people at Nintendo, and I remember constantly wondering how I could demonstrate my own worth in such an environment.”

To be fair, he said working there with many top-tier talents made him have an “inferiority complex,” which led to him leaving after 32 years. Even still, he had nothing but positive things to say about The Big N. That was doubled down on by Shinji Watanabe, who’s now the CEO of another company, and he said that the people there were so great that they were basically “Celestial Beings,” which we’re sure Shigeru Miyamoto has been referred to as a few times in his career.

Finally, Ken Watanabe added the following statement:

“There really is nothing but amazing people [at Nintendo]. Trying to find a way to stand out among them was both draining and fulfilling.”

The company is known for having the highest quality, so if you want to “stand out” or “make it there,” you do need to work hard at it. The Big N continues to endure to this day, and that should tell you quite a lot.
