Onimusha: Way of the Sword offers a plethora of skills to purchase as you work your way through its lengthy campaign. As we mentioned in our Onimusha: Way of the Sword review, there’s plenty to discover throughout the game, and upgrading many of your skills requires finding and collecting various materials scattered across each level.
That means thoroughly exploring every nook and cranny you come across. Luckily, there’s a skill you can buy extremely early in your adventure that makes finding items and materials much easier. Here’s why we think you should buy it as soon as you can.
Buy This Upgrade ASAP in Onimusha: Way of the Sword
With so many items to find throughout each location in Onimusha: Way of the Sword, especially throughout the open areas of Kyoto, you won’t want to miss grabbing the Oni Visions: Treasure ability.
Oni Visions: Treasure highlights all nearby items and materials each time you use your Oni Vision ability by holding L2/LT and pressing R2/RT. Because some items and chests are pretty well hidden throughout the game’s dense environments, this makes it much easier to track down anything sitting off the beaten path or tucked away in an easy-to-miss location.
Oni Visions: Treasure becomes available as soon as you unlock the ability to purchase skills, which happens just a few hours into the game. You can find the ability under the Special Skills tab.
While it may be tempting to purchase Two Celestials: Combo Strength instead, which lets you press R1/RT to improve your damage when attacking with the Two Celestials, we feel Oni Visions: Treasure is the better first choice.
It makes finding the materials and items needed for additional upgrades considerably easier, which can pay off throughout the rest of your adventure. You may be delaying a combat upgrade in the short term, but the ability to consistently find more resources can give you a much better payoff in the long run.
