Upcoming Soulslike Games Releasing in 2024

By Keith MitchellMay 28, 2024
Upcoming Soulslikes of 2024

If you’ve read my content, watched any of my YouTube videos or streams, or followed me on Twitter, you’d know that the Soulslike genre is one of my favorites. Sure, the games tend to kick my butt, yet I keep coming back for more. Speaking of Soulslikes, 2024 is full of them, from games you might have known about to absolute can’t-miss games and a few others flying under your radar.

Not to worry, as I’ll show you every Soulsike that is being released in 2024. However, there’s a slight possibility that I’ll miss one, given that everyone is working on a Soulslike game. Alright, on to the games.

Another Crab’s Treasure

Release Date: April 25, 2024
Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, PCSoulslikes in 2024 - Another Crab's Treasure

This underwater Soulslike was already released in 2024, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be on this list. It’s a change of pace from most Soulslikes, as you’re not here saving the world, and it’s not a desolate wasteland. Instead, you play the role of a hermit crab that wants its shell back after having it stolen. It’s a fun game, and I’ve been claiming that this is the best game so far for people to jump into if they want to experience a Soulslike that gives them plenty of options to succeed. It even gives you access to a one-shot gun of death if you need it.

Please play this game if you’ve never played a Soulslike in your life. There’s no need to thank me.

No Rest For The Wicked

Release Date: TBD
Platforms: PC (Early Access)no-rest-for-the-wicked-early-access-looking upset

This is another Soulslike that dropped in 2024 and is the first action RPG from Moon Studios, but you may as well call it Soulslike. The devs have stated they wanted to turn the action RPG world on its back and have looked towards Fromsoftware’s Soulslike games as inspiration. This game is currently available on Steam as an early-access game, and for a while, I was addicted to it. Once I finish the other games, I’ll return to this.

Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn

Release Date: TBD
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC

This game looks to be the lovechild of Devil May Cry, Elden Ring, and Mega Man. Combat is fast and features a combo style system – the more stylish you fight, the better your score, which will double as currency. The game features an open world that beckons players to explore it and will include optional dungeons and secret areas. When you defeat bosses, you’ll acquire their powers and add them to your own, hence the Mega Man bit. It looks juicy and exciting. Did I mention you’ll have a companion who looks even cuter than a fox?

Hollow Knight: Silksong

Release Date: NO CLUE
Platforms: NO CLUE

At this point, this game feels like a cruel joke. Hollow Knight: Silksong is the follow-up to Hollow Knight, and it seems like the world expects this game to be shown during every gaming event, finally. First confirmed as a DLC for Hollow Knight, the game grew in scope so much that in 2019, it was revealed it would be its own game. Team Cherry is hard at work, hoping to deliver yet another world-breaking Soulslike, as it did with Hollow Knight. It will finally see the day of light. One day. And no, we don’t know the release date; maybe it’s in 2024. Maybe it isn’t.

Phantom Blade Zero

Release Date: TBD
Platforms: PS5, PC

Many haven’t heard of Phantom Blade Zero, a game developed by Chinese developer S-Game. In this title, Players will play as a Samurai who only has 66 days left to live. Instead of living the rest of his days in peace, he decides to go after the persons who inflicted this life decay upon him. This title borrows from several other games, including Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, in inspiration and their Asian cultural themes. Stay tuned, as we may have some information about this game to share in the upcoming weeks.

Enotria: The Last Song

Release Date: August 21st, 2024
Platforms: PC (Steam and Epic Games Store)

Enotria: The Last Song

Being developed on Unreal Engine 5, this game is both a looker and is full of Italian culture that shouldn’t be missed. When I played it, the art style drew me in, and despite enemies trying to end my life, I could not help but look at the world. The game has familiar combat, with a few new ideas that help separate the game from most of the games in the Soulslike genre. This game has a lot of potential. There’s currently a demo up on Steam that, after an update, plays much more than before, and I recommend giving it a try.

Deathbound

Release Date: TBD
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG)

Deathbound header image 1920x1080

While most Soulslikes involve controlling a single character, Deathbound takes it further by allowing you to command a party of four, selected from characters you’ve acquired during your journey. What’s intriguing about this distinctive party system is how the game manages health and healing. Each character in your party has its health pool, but if one character perishes, your entire party faces defeat. This will be an interesting Soulslike to watch, that’s for sure.

Kristala

Release Date: June 6 (Early Access)
Platforms: PC (Steam)

This is the game that I’ve been calling The Cats Soulslike, given that the game’s developer, Astral Clocktower Studios, has an infinity of cats and Soulslikes. Due to the verticality, I’ve seen some people call this game more like Sekiro, but this is definitely a Soulslike game. Play as cats as you try to save a most incredibly created world while speaking in a completely unique language, using magic and melee to save the day. Even if you don’t like cats, you should check this out.

Black Myth: Wukong

Release Date: August 20, 2024
Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam)

Black Myth: Wukong is another upcoming Soulslike rooted in Chinese mythology and drawing from Journey to the West, one of the most well-known Chinese literary works. We’ve known about this game for quite some time, as it was announced in 2020. The game’s developer, Game Science, has released several trailers since then, covering the title’s gameplay, announcing that the game would be developed in Unreal Engine 5, and more.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree

Release Date: June 21, 2024
Platforms: PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam)
ELDEN RING Shadow of the Erdtree – Story Trailer

It’s Elden Ring. I’m not sure what else I have to say. The follow-up to the biggest Soulslike ever released, Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, is perhaps the single-most Soulslike that most Soulslike fans look forward to. Despite not even playing it, someone has already called it their game of 2024. Yes, the hype is that much. A new story, new lore, new characters, and a new area that is as large as Limgrave, which is pretty big in its own right. I mean, it’s Elden Ring. I don’t need to say much of anything. I’m sure Hidetaka Miyazaki is counting the days until we dive into his latest masterpiece.

It’s freaking ELDEN RING. Do I need to say more?

Some may have noticed that I’ve left off Digital Extreme’s upcoming title, Soulframe, for reasons. Sadly, I can’t discuss those reasons as I’d be breaking NDA, and we don’t do that around there.

That’s it. However, if I missed any upcoming Soulslike games releasing in 2024, please email me or contact me on Twitter.
