The Bayonetta franchise has dazzled fans for over a decade. It’s been on multiple generations of consoles, with the most recent entry being on the Nintendo Switch. But no sooner had that game gotten out into the world than PlatinumGames was prepping its next big announcement. Specifically, a prequel in the form of Bayonetta Origins Cereza and the Lost Demon. The game is developed by a new set of faces within Platinum and will tell the story of Cereza before she became the Umbra Witch we all know and love.

However, the visual style, combat, and storytelling will differ greatly from the mainline games. How different? Well, IGN released a special preview video highlighting many things you wouldn’t expect from the series. This includes a special control system, unique combat mechanics, and more details on the storybook-style visuals. Check out the full preview below, and get Bayonetta Origins Cereza and the Lost Demon when it releases on March 17th.

And be sure to check out our review of Bayonetta 3!
