Serena Confirmed To Return For Pokemon Journeys

By Todd BlackApril 7, 2022
Pokemon Journeys, Serena

When Pokemon Journeys was revealed to be a “world tour” kind of story where Ash and his new companion Goh would travel around the Pokemon world (via the regions we’ve been to before) in order to research, battle, and capture Pokemon, many were curious to see who from Ash’s past might show up. Sure enough, we’ve seen everything from old rivals like Gary, to past gym leaders from Johto, Sinnoh and beyond, as well as former companions returning and showing off how they’ve grown. Like with Iris, Dawn, and the Alola crew. But now, it’s been confirmed that the most-anticipated reunion in Pokemon history might return. As Serena is coming back.

For those who don’t remember, Serena was one of Ash’s companions during the XYZ anime saga. Her character was much more unique than her gaming counterparts, and her journey through the world of Pokemon Contests was not only mature, it was easily one of the deepest storylines that Pokemon has ever done. But her journey “ended” with that anime by her…kissing Ash. So you can see why so many wanted to see her back in Pokemon Journeys.

As you can see via the promos and stills below, Serena is still doing her dream of becoming the “Queen of Contests” and will apparently be helping Chloe in her own journey. She also has a more mature look (not unlike Iris before her) and…well…we don’t see her reunion with Ash…but perhaps they don’t want to spoil it.

HERE IT IS! 🎀🔥 #anipoke

It’s only a few images but I get the impression Serena has had the biggest character change out of all of Ash’s friends… and that includes Iris who became champion.

Her team is Delphox, Pancham, and Sylveon.
