PvE multiplayer spin-off for Remedy’s Control in development, other new entries in the franchise also hinted

By Poch SaldanaJune 30, 2021

In a joint deal between Remedy Entertainment and publishers 505 Games, it has been announced that a new entry in the Control universe is in the works. A new PvE multiplayer spin-off is currently in development with a codename of Project Condor.

We have signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-publish and develop a new game. Read the announcement here: https://t.co/8Dtu9KFxTZ

Mikael Kasurinen, the Game Director of the Control franchise, would like to tell you about the future of Control: https://t.co/Wu9afSKlO1

Mikael Kasurinen, game director of the Control series, penned a message to fans to give a few more details regarding the new 4-player spin-off. Kasurinen addressed skepticism about Remedy itself developing a multiplayer title when the studio has solely focused on single-player experiences beforehand and introduced Vanguard, the small internal team heading the development of Project Condor.

Kasurinen also teased more ambitious and exciting plans for the Control franchise:

Control is more than one location, character, or story. We have more. Something ambitious. As today’s announcement stated, “have outlined high-level collaboration terms to further expand the Control franchise with a bigger-budget Control-game”. I unfortunately cannot go into more detail than that, but suffice to say, I’m extremely excited for the future of the Control franchise.

This pretty much confirms that a new entry in the Control franchise is in the works that’ll be more akin to Remedy’s bread and butter of single-player, story-based games. Whether this new “bigger-budget” Control title will let players take control of Jesse Faden and further explore the mysteries of The Oldest House or a brand new character set in the same universe is yet to be seen.

Contol Ultimate Edition is developed by Remedy Entertainment and published by 505 Games. The title is available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, and Switch via cloud-streaming.

Big fan of games, writing, and writing about games! Two things Poch will always stand by--the Vita was ahead of its time and the world is a better place with a new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.
