Games I should have played in 2020 – Keith’s Picks

By Keith MitchellJanuary 3, 2021

I know, I messed up but I vow to be better.

Let’s face it; we all have regrets. Whether it was asking out that person in high school or choosing to eat that hamburger that you knew you shouldn’t have. But we’re not here to talk about that, but instead, we’re going to go over the games that I should have played in 2020, but for one reason or another, I didn’t.

I’m not proud of it, and I fully play to rectify those mistakes, even if it kills me. And if 2020 is any indication, maybe killing me is the least of my worries. Thankfully, I didn’t miss many games this year, and there are only three games on this missed hit list.

Hades

Supergiant Games Hades

Ah, yes, starting with a game that nearly everyone here has told me to play; Supergiant Games Hades. An isometric action hack and slash roguelike with so much charm that it oozes out of every detail. The combat is amazing. The graphics are subpar, the music and voiceovers are the stuff of dreams. So why didn’t I play it? Well, I’m a bum. That’s the only logical reason. That or I just was afraid to add one more addicting game to my list of “must play games.” Either way, I’ve already rectified this and have started playing Hades just a few days ago. In fact, right after our Spectator Mode Podcast End of the Year Special.

Now, if I could only escape from Hell.

Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima

Ok, this one isn’t exactly a game I didn’t play in 2020. But more of a game that I didn’t get to spend any longer than an hour or two with, so I’m lumping it in. Ghost of Tsushima is a fantastic game that takes place in one of my favorite eras and features such a proper environment and story that it oozes with charm. However, it also released during a bad time for me, as I was stuck in the middle of several other titles and then never returned. Then I started playing Nioh 2 and a whole lot of Baldur’s Gate 3. Needless to say, I skipped what an amazing game is, and I sort of regret it. Well, not really, because now I have all the time in the world to play it, plus now I can play it on the PS5. So, that’s a win.

Check out our Ghost of Tsushima review.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2

Are you surprised this is even on my list? If so, why? I grew up during the era where the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games we freaking entertaining. The soundtracks, the skateboarding tricks, and the insane locations were the stuff of legends. I don’t think there was a person I knew at the time who didn’t play these games. With the remake, everything (well, almost everything) is intact, and the fun factor is back. Our buddy Karl won’t stop talking about this game and tells me I’m a fool for skipping out. So this is another game I’ll need to find some time to play. Because if I don’t, Karl’ gonna keep nagging me.

Well, that’s it, folks. I told ya, there weren’t many games I missed in 2020 that I should have played. Did I name something that you also missed out on? Let us know in the comments!
