New Star Wars Movie Coming From Taika Waititi

By Todd BlackMay 4, 2020
Star Wars

The Star Wars is about to get even bigger! For on this May The 4th (be with you!), we’ve got an announcement that will likely shake the galaxy far, far away! Because Lucasfilm and Disney have announced that Taika Waititi is going to be directing and co-writing a new Star Wars movie!

For those who aren’t familiar with the name, Taika Waititi is the guy who made Thor Ragnarok (one of the most crazy and insane and yet beloved MCU movies out there), Jojo Rabbit (which won an Oscar) and even directed the season 1 finale of The Mandalorian.

In short, he’s a fan favorite director, and a guy who isn’t afraid to show off his vision as well as having fun with his cast and crew.

Joining Waititi on the screenplay will be Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho), who received a BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film of the Year on the three-time Oscar-winning film, 1917.

Now, as for what the movie will be about or when it can be expected to arrive…that hasn’t been made clear. But, given the love of The Mandalorian, as well as the rather divisive nature of the last three Star Wars films (Rise of Skywalker, Solo, Last Jedi), you can bet that Disney and Lucasfilm are going to let Taika just do his own thing and take his time to get things right.
