Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things 4’ trailer teases a very unexpected return

While it was no secret that Netflix was working on the next chapter of the ‘Stranger Things’ series. Judging from today’s reactions, fans of the series weren’t expecting a tease this early and definitely not of this magnitude. That said, this teaser does contain a spoiler for ‘Stranger Things 4’. But go ahead and watch it, as it’s pretty much calling out to you.

This short teaser doesn’t provide much in terms of what we can expect from this seasons. The video pans in our a snowy area where we find a number of prisoners working on a railroad, with them guarded closely by guards. After a short trek up the railroad, the camera zooms in on one prisoner, who takes off his hat and wipes his brow… wait… who is that? Well, it’s Hawkins Sheriff Jim Hopper, who looks to be very alive. He doesn’t seem to be doing well, but he’s definitely alive. Which is completely unexpected, considering we all saw him get caught in an explosion during ‘Stranger Things 3 and feared he was gone. Though, some faithful fans had assumed we’d see him again.

Being that this a teaser, we’re all left with more questions than answers. For starters, how the heck did he end up where he is? As for the next season, both Matt and Ross Duffer the creators of the show have announced that production has started. As well as the official confirmation that Jim Hopper is alive.

He is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human … and other. Meanwhile, back in the U.S., a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything…”

Finally, the Duffer Brothers have teased that this season of Stranger Things “is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet.” If that wasn’t the biggest tease, I don’t know what is. As for when we can expect to see Stranger Things 4, we don’t have any dates yet. Though I’m sure once it’s ready, both Matt and Ross Duffer will be ready to tease the world yet again.

P.S., does anyone find the strange coincidence that Jim Hopper is stranded in Kamchatka, Russia? At the same time, David Harbour, who plays the character is also starring in the upcoming ‘Black Widow’ movie,  as the Red Guardian (the Soviet equivalent to Captain America). Which also takes place in Russia? Nobody? Maybe it’s just me.
