With Spider-Man: Brand New Day arriving in theaters later this week, and yes, I already have my tickets, Insomniac Games has shown Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 some more love with a new update. Along with two new suits for Peter Parker, the update adds Enhanced PSSR support for PS5 Pro and Power Saver mode for PS5 consoles.
The two new suits are available right now on PlayStation 5 and PC at no additional cost. The first is the Fresh Start suit inspired by Peter Parker’s new look in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, while the second is based on Spider-Man’s appearance in MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.
As for the technical side of the update, PS5 Pro owners now have access to Enhanced PSSR, commonly referred to as PSSR 2.0. The newer version of Sony’s upscaling technology is designed to provide cleaner image reconstruction and improved image quality compared to the original implementation.
Power Saver mode has also been added for PS5 consoles, allowing the game to reduce its power consumption by scaling back some aspects of its performance. These are PlayStation-specific additions, so PC players will receive the two new suits but not Enhanced PSSR or Power Saver support.
It is a nice little update for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, especially after the game went so long without receiving anything new. The timing could not be better either, as it gives everyone another reason to swing through New York City before Spider-Man: Brand New Day arrives in theaters.
