Hail Santa! ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Gets a Holiday Episode

By Sara Roncero-MenendezNovember 13, 2018

Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina may be getting sued by The Satanic Temple over its use of the copyrighted statue of Baphomet, but that doesn’t mean it can’t also bring us some solstice cheer too! Well, hopefully, anyways.

That’s right, show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed that a holiday special for this recently released title is well on its way this holiday season:

Praise Satan! I mean, Praise Santa! @sabrinanetflix has a X-mas Special dropping on 12/14!! I love this episode of #CAOS!! @netflix 🔮👹👼🏼🎄⚡️☃️🥂🍷☠️ pic.twitter.com/A5DPs4Dajv

And it was confirmed in this video from Netflix, announcing all of the other fun holiday programming that will be making its way onto the streaming service in the coming weeks:

For those wondering what a witchy Christmas would never look like, Netflix was kind enough to not only provide a title, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale, but also a synopsis:

“The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice – the longest night of the year – when families gather around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols and tell ghost stories,” writes Netflix. “But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors – both welcome and unwelcome – you never know what might come down the chimney…”

While season 2 has yet to be confirmed, it’s interesting to see that the show already had a holiday special all geared up and ready to go. Not that I’m complaining, I love me some spooky goodness amidst all the holiday cheer and good will toward men. From Aguirre-Sacasa’s tweet, it looks like the whole cast will be involved in the episode, meaning you get another dose of your favorites while waiting for the next season to be announced. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll see how Sabrina is doing now that she’s chosen to fully embrace her witch side…and now that there’s a new baby in the Spellman house.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale is coming to Netflix on December 14, 2018.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
