The news has been quiet on Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO after the first announcement hit that it was getting brand new DLC called Super Limit-Breaking NEO. Today, all that silence ends as a new video has been uploaded from Bandai Namco that details more information about the DLC. And even better, a release date!
Limit Breaker Journey
The first part of the showcase dives into the single-player game mode Spike Chunsoft will be adding to Dragon Ball Sparking! ZERO. It is called Limit Breaker Journey. It will allow you to choose your favorite character in the roster and take them on a journey to level up their skills and fighting ability. It shows a screen for increasing and improving specific stats during the mode. You choose a destination you can go to, and moving there will take stamina. Your stamina also reflects your in-game health. If you get into a battle, low stamina will mean fewer hits you can take in combat. If you win with low stamina, though, you get increased experience points for that character. At the end of a playthrough of this game mode, you will gain senzu beans that you can take with you on repeats of this game mode that will increase your stamina back to full.
On the map, you will see dialogue icons that will let you interact with other characters on the map. Talking to them grants you battle arts you can equip to enhance your stats. You can also do friendly spars to increase EXP. You are limited in the number of battle arts you can equip based on your SP. SP is essentially the character’s level. When you grow in SP level, you gain points that you can put into six different stat attributes.
The six attributes are HP, Attack, Blast/Skill Damage, Ki Charge Speed, Skill gauge Recovery Speed, and Defense. If you are defeated in battle in this game mode, you will reach a game over. Your EXP will not be lost, though. You can use the boosted-up characters in offline game modes and in Player Matches.
Sparking! Boost And Chain Blast
The next segment is about two more additions that come with this DLC: Sparking! Boost and Chain Blast. Sparking! Boost is an action that takes up skill stock to immediately go to Sparking! Mode. Sparking! Mode gives you enhanced stats and faster speeds for a temporary period of time. Once you leave Sparking! Mode from a Sparking! Boost, you are left with reduced stats for a temporary period of time. You will have to be careful when utilizing this.
Chain Blast is an action you can take when you send an opponent flying and have the option to follow up. This lets one of your characters in reserve swap in and do an attack of their own on the enemy. There will be four new additional stages added to the game as well.
The Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC also adds new techniques and costumes to the game to customize characters. Finally! The lack of costumes was one of the negatives I had with the game when I played it. It has the foundation for costumes and accessories, but very few characters in the roster even utilize them.
There will be episode mode inclusions for Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Perfect Cell. Episode mode is the story mode of the game. Some characters have a lot of detail to their episode mode, and others have weird spots removed from their stories. I noted this in the review of the game.
All these changes and new characters that were detailed previously will be added when the DLC launches for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO on July 30th, 2026.
DRAGON BALL: Sparking! ZERO is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
