Virtual On: Cyber Troopers Is Headed To The PlayStation

Sega has been on a roll as of late, bringing some of their older titles over to new platforms, some of which received remasters. And it doesn’t look like they plan on stopping, as they’ve announced that Virtual-On, their twin-stick mecha battle game, is headed to the PlayStation 4.

This includes Virtual-On: Cyber Troopers, Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Oratorio Tangram (ver. 5.66), and Cyber Troopers Virtual-On Force. The first two were only released in arcades, on the Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, and PlayStation 2 via the Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol. 31, while the latter was released on the Xbox 360. None of these have been available on any modern console—until now, that is.

Now, I know many of our readers likely haven’t played any of these games. Take it from me—these were the best mecha battling games in a very long time. In fact, many games, such as the recent Gundam games from Bandai Namco, have tried to emulate the Virtual-On series—with some success.

There’s no word on when the games will be available, which regions they’ll be released in, their pricing, or if they’ll be remastered editions. However, just knowing they’re coming is more than enough for me.
