The Switch version of Dark Souls Remastered finally gets a release date

By Keith MitchellAugust 14, 2018
Dark Souls Remastered Nintendo Switch

I know there are more than a few Switch owners out there wondering what exactly happened with Dark Souls Remastered. Hell, even myself is a bit curious about what happened with the title.

Especially since I had a chance to play it at PAX East 2018. Well, while we don’t know the specifics, we do know this; The game finally has a release date of October 19, 2018. The Solaire amiibo will be available on the same date as well.

Praise The Sun! DARK SOULS: Remastered for #NintendoSwitch and the Solaire of Astora amiibo will launch on Oct. 19th! Journey to Lordran and experience the groundbreaking action-RPG on the go!

An online Network Test will be scheduled prior to release. Stay tuned for more info. pic.twitter.com/WE1xNmLi0j

There’s even a mention of the network test that was supposed to happen a few months back as well. Though, if I’m being honest, the network test was a bit of a letdown. Mainly because it was limited, however, I suppose that was the purpose of the test.

As for why the huge delay, well I haven’t a clue about that. When I had some hands-on at PAX East 2018, I thought it ran well. The framerate held up fine, and the gameplay was vintage Dark Souls.  I’d love to know why it was delayed, but at this point does it really matter?

Still, a release date is great news. However, now you got to wonder how many people will start smashing their Switch’s again the wall in a fit of another. Looks like Nintendo is about to make even more money, come this October. Also, the game will make appearances at both Gamescom 2018 and PAX West 2018. If you’re heading out to either event and you’re fans of the series, be sure to head to Nintendo’s booth and check out the game.

Dark Souls Remastered on the Switch, it’s finally coming!
