It’s no secret that we here at The Outerhaven do not agree with SJW (Social Justice Warrior) ‘outrage’ over every little thing that is put out into the world. We’ve covered ButtGate, GamerGate, ShirtGate and every other storm in a teacup that SJW’s and Feminists have bitched and complained about on Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and everywhere else they have their slimy tentacles in. But I’m drawing a line here.
The current ‘outrage’ is over a billboard that promotes the rather average X-Men Apocalypse film that was recently released. Just so you know that the problem is, here’s the image that’s being published.
The image above, which shows the VILLAIN Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) choking Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) during a moment in the movie where Apocalypse has the upper hand against the heroes. It also has the caption “Only the strong will survive”, which is a part of Apocalypse’s personal mantra.
Now the issue here, according to SJW/Feminists, is that this billboard promotes “violence against women”. This is the biggest load of bullshit I have heard in a long time. This is a VILLAIN being a VILLAIN! Villains are by nature evil beings that are going to DO THE WRONG THING against those who oppose them. This will include such things as… I dunno… VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN!!
To be honest, this would not have been a thing at all if it wasn’t for one person: Rose “I haven’t done anything successful since Charmed, and even that is debatable” McGowen. The former “actress” posted the following about the billboard:
“There is a major problem when the men and women at 20th Century Fox think casual violence against women is the way to market a film. There is no context in the ad, just a woman getting strangled. The fact that no one flagged this is offensive and frankly, stupid,” she said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
“The geniuses behind this, and I use that term lightly, need to take a long hard look at the mirror and see how they are contributing to society. Imagine if it were a black man being strangled by a white man, or a gay male being strangled by a hetero? The outcry would be enormous. So let’s right this wrong. 20th Century Fox, since you can’t manage to put any women directors on your slate for the next two years, how about you at least replace your ad?”
She continued: “I’ll close with a text my friend sent, a conversation with his daughter. It follows: ‘My daughter and I were just having a deep discussion on the brutality of that hideous X-Men poster yesterday. Her words: ‘Dad, why is that monster man committing violence against a woman?’ This from a 9-year-old. If she can see it, why can’t Fox?”
So let’s just jump past the bit where the Mystique character is not only a central character of the film, but a female who leads the charge against Apocalypse himself in one of the more empowering roles seen in the film series. Or even the fact that Apocalypse, a being who believes in “Survival of the fittest” creates a group of 50-50 split between men and women. This is something that could be attributed to true equality. But nope! Let’s take one image from the promotion for the film and create a whole out of context outrage about the whole film.
Not to speak about the stupid ‘quote’ from a 9 Year Old girl about what is happening in the image: “Dad, why is that monster man committing violence against a woman?”. Answer: “Well sweetie, that guy is a bad guy. Bad guys do bad things, and that includes choking the heroes”. BOOM! Done! Easy answer.
Now what makes this worse in my eyes is that FOX APOLOGIZES FOR THE BILLBOARD! In a statement, Fox says that in highlighting the villainy of Apocalypse, “we didn’t immediately realise the upsetting connotation of this image in print form”. The studio apologized and said it was removing promotional materials with the image. Fox added it “would never condone violence against women”.
Sure, this is more of a ‘saving face’ move by FOX, but it’s something that should not happen… EVER! No studio should have to be frightened of putting something up promoting their work unless they pass it by the SJW/Feminist Mafia first and get their ok. Movies are subjective and do not always promote what some SJW groups believe it does.
Ghostbusters will suck because of more than having women in the lead roles, Apocalypse is allowed to choke Mystique as she is attempting to kill him, Captain America can Hail Hydra if he wants, Thor is not a female because a writer can’t tell the difference between a title and a name, and frankly anything these people are outraged about on Social Media. Don’t like what you are seeing promoted? DON’T GO SEE IT! Don’t like what you’re reading? STOP READING IT!
ENOUGH WITH THE OUTRAGE CAMPAIGNS TO CHANGE SOMETHING YOU DON’T REALLY HAVE ANY INTEREST IN ANYWAY!!!

I just have no words for how stupid this sounds. As I said before, Apocalypse is an EVIL CHARACTER, which means he is going to do evil things! This doesn’t make it some statement about abuse against women or some bullshit, it just shows that he is an EVIL CHARACTER!
So what does this mean? Do all promotional material need to be approved by Feminists, Women’s Groups, SJW’s and every other “progressive” group out there? Maybe. I suspect that this will set off a lot of studios paying those types of groups to approve their trailers and posters for a while, leading to a lot of terrible posters and trailers. Hollywood is nothing but over-responsive for things like this. Hell, I expect Hollywood to make sure that all future Superhero films make sure to never have a male touch a female in any fight scene unless the female is the one kicking ass. So yeah, Black Widow becomes untouchable in Avengers 3.
Frankly, I’m getting sick of seeing this shit all over my Social Media feeds and on my news sites. People need to grow some spines and just let things happen and either not watch it, or just shut the fuck up about it. Things like Feminism and SJW-ism are ruining everything on this planet in the name of ‘progressiveness’ when all it is really doing is creating a huge divide between genders, races, and everything else. Just fuck off… Please?
