Street Fighter V DLC Timeline Revealed

By Karl SmartFebruary 18, 2016

To say that the Street Fighter V launch has been a bit of an issue would be an understatement, however as the servers get more stable the staff here at The Outerhaven are starting to play it more and more. Personally speaking, Editor-in-Chief Keith Mitchell & I have actually been able to get through a whole series of 5 fights without interruption or disconnection (For bragging sake, I won the series 3-2 with every fight going to a tie-breaking round 5). This is a huge step up from our previous attempt; which you can read more about here

According to a post via Capcom-Unity, a large bunch of server side updates have been applied since launch and should *hopefully* take care of some of those teething problems that many players have encountered. Things might not be perfect, but what company doesn’t have server issues when a new game launches… Right BLIZZARD?

Matchmaking

Matchmaking is now working as intended and users should be able to find online matches without much of a wait in both Ranked and Casual mode.

Battle Lounge

Playing in the same Battle Lounge for a set period of time renders players unable to participate in the lounge or matches. Many of the other issues with Battle Lounge have been resolved and users should be able to invite other players to their lounge. The team is still looking at this mode very closely and will continue to make improvements as we move into the weekend time frame.

Match Results

Some users have reported that their match results are not being sent to the server. In most cases, this is more or less a UI bug and your results along with your rewards will still be credited to your account.

If you are unsure if your match was recorded, check your battle log and if the match appears there, it will also be recorded on the server.

Replay Search

Some of the more recent replay data won’t be available immediately when searching the replay database but the team is working on making those replays available as soon as possible.

All of your personal replays are immediately available by going through your fighter profile.

Other issues being addressed:

  • Some user names don’t show up in Rival Search.
  • Some user names don’t display properly on battle results screen.
  • Ranking functionality isn’t working properly on the CFN.

CAPCOM also released a visual version of their upcoming DLC Timeline.

The timeline basically breaks down as follows:

  • March: DLC Character 1 (Alex) is released. Challenges/Trials are added. 8 player Lobby support is added. And the shop is finally available (Stopping all those “This content is coming in March” messages.
  • April: DLC Character 2 is released
  • May: DLC Character 3 is released
  • June: The FREE Cinematic Story Content is released. Hopefully a vast improvement over the very short story mode that was released with the game.
  • July: DLC Character 4 is released
  • August: DLC Character 5 is released
  • September: DLC Character 6 is released
  • By the end of 2016: “More to come”. Hopefully the Arcade Mode that the community is screaming at the top of their lung for.

It looks like CAPCOM has a plan for Street Fighter V and they are sticking to it. Pushing a $30 Season Pass for 6 characters is a bit much, but I guess we as a consumer base are too used to things like this to “Rise Up” (to borrow a marketing phrase from CAPCOM) and do anything about it. All we can really do at a time like this is hope that by the end of September 2016 Street Fighter V is the game we were promised it was going to be.
