Update: Already funded – Sea of Stars Revealed, Kickstarter Campaign, and More

Update: Not even 24 hours later, the Kickstarter for “Sea of Stars” has been completely funded. Currently, it is sitting at $164,000 USD. Now the campaign is into the stretch goals.

Original story below:

Today, Sabotage Studios revealed their next title set in “The Messenger” universe, Sea of Stars, coming to PC and Consoles in 2022, the Kickstarter states. You can check out the game’s official reveal trailer below.

The official game description reads:

“Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG inspired by the 90’s classics. A prequel story set in The Messenger’s universe, it tells the story of two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic, the only force capable of fighting off the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist known as The Fleshmancer. Promising the Sabotage touch in every system, Sea of Stars aims to modernize the classic RPG in turn-based combat, storytelling, exploration and interactions with the environment, while still offering a hearty slice of nostalgia and good old, simple fun.

The game boasts beautiful visuals, a compelling story, and a fresh take on the turn-based RPG action that fans of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy are sure to love. Backers of the title can expect to receive things such as a demo of the title, the game’s soundtrack, and everything else a Kickstarter game tends to include.

Sabotage Studios was founded in April 2016 in Quebec City, during the early prototyping phases of The Messanger. Within 2 years, the studio had grown from 3 to 10 employees and in August of 2018, The Messanger, Published by Devolver Digital, was released to critical acclaim, landing the Best Debut Indie Title award from The Game Awards 2018. You can check out The Messenger on Steam, PS4, and Switch now as well as it’s free DLC titled “Picnic Panic” which was released in July of 2019.

We are certainly excited to learn more about Sea of Stars and cannot wait for it’s release. If you’re interested in this, and other works by Sabotage Studios, you can check them out on Twitter @SabotageQc and by donating to the Kickstarter for Sea of Stars.

They say everything's bigger in Texas, and Austin is no exception. Barely a 90's kid, Austin longs for the return of platformers, specifically Jak and Daxter, just don't tell him it'll never actually happen. He enjoys stand up comedy, occasionally performing in local scenes around San Antonio and Austin, and playing a myriad of different games. He also has an aggressive obsession with Superman.
