You might have missed it, but earlier today, EA revealed the cover athlete for this year’s Ultimate Edition of the upcoming EA SPORTS FC 27. That athlete is none other than World Cup Golden Boot winner Kylian Mbappé. The French phenom returns to the franchise cover for the first time in four years, having never previously featured on a cover under the FC moniker.
Here’s what he had to say about gracing the cover this year:

Since his move to Real Madrid in 2024, Mbappé has excelled, delivering at football’s highest level. He has finished as LALIGA EA SPORTS’ top scorer in each of his two seasons in Spain, and claimed the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League Golden Boot after scoring 15 goals in the competition.
He has sustained that momentum at the international level with a series of standout performances for his country over the summer, further cementing his place among the world’s elite and earning his place on the cover of EA SPORTS FC 27.
