Looks Like Sunset Overdrive Is Finally Making Its Way To The PC

By Keith MitchellNovember 1, 2018
Sunset Overdrive coming to the PC

Ah, Sunset Overdrive. A favorite of Xbox One fans everywhere, or at the least for the ones who’ve played it. It had it all. Amazing graphics, fantastic gameplay and was on its way to being a surefire hit. It was even one of the first games we reviewed when we started reviewing games. Except it didn’t produce the sales that Microsoft wanted, so we never got that sequel we were hoping for.

Since then, a rumor kept popping up that the title may make its way to the PC. A rumor that has been going on for years and one that looks less of a rumor as of today. As seen over on Gemastu, Sunset Overdrive has been rated by the ESRB for the PC. Which happens to follow the PC rating we saw back in May via Korea’s Game Rating And Administration Committee. So you know what that means, right?

It means that the title is pretty much a done deal and will be arriving on the PC. And with Microsoft’s  X018 happening in less than two weeks, could this game be one of the event’s announcements?

Of course, several questions remain. What platform will be distributed by? Will this end up on Windows’s Microsoft Store, or make it’s way to Steam? The smart money says it would later on the native storefront first, and possibly later hitting Steam. But if Microsoft is smart, they’ll release it on both platforms. Double the exposure, double the sales. Will we see a re-release for the Xbox One (X?) as well? Will it also see a 4K addition? I suppose we’ll just have to wait and find out.

Hopefully, when this eventually does get released, that Microsoft will re-evaluate the series and possibly give us that sequel after all.
