Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 received several major announcements during Gamescom 2026, including details on Year 8 Season 3: Red Horizon and the reveal of its next expansion, Echoes of Central Park. However, one announcement stands above the rest, especially for those of us who have been playing the game for years: The Division 2 is finally getting crossplay.Yes. Finally.
Crossplay will arrive in November 2026, more than seven years after The Division 2 was originally released. Ubisoft says adding the feature required significant work behind the scenes, including partially rebuilding the game’s online architecture. Once the update arrives, players across supported platforms will finally be able to play and matchmake together instead of being separated by their platform of choice.
Crossplay will be enabled by default, though players who would rather remain within their platform’s ecosystem will be able to disable it from the Character Selection screen. Ubisoft is also migrating existing clans into the new crossplay environment, allowing players on different platforms to join the same clan. Clan capacity is being doubled from 50 to 100 players, while the game’s leaderboards will be reset when crossplay goes live.
This is a huge addition for a game as old as The Division 2. While the game has continued to receive new seasons, expansions, gear, and other content over the years, its community has remained split between platforms. Crossplay should make it much easier to find other Agents for matchmaking while allowing friends who own the game on different platforms to finally team up. Ubisoft also expects the change to create a healthier matchmaking environment and reduce queue times. Sadly if you were wondering about moving to another platform, cross-saves aren’t part of this new change-up.
Crossplay wasn’t the only thing Ubisoft had to talk about at Gamescom. Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Year 8 Season 3: Red Horizon launches on August 27, 2026, and brings the Cleaners back to Washington, D.C., following the events of Battle for Brooklyn.
The season introduces a new Pressure Gauge Modifier system, additional Cleaner activities and Elite Kill Squads, while also making the Toxic PvE Dark Zone a permanent part of the game. Blackout will also join the PvP Dark Zone rotation, letting Agents use the full strength of their builds without the usual power restrictions.
Ubisoft also revealed Echoes of Central Park, the next expansion for The Division 2. As the name suggests, Agents will finally head into Central Park, an area that was used as a mass burial ground during the outbreak and has remained largely unexplored throughout the series.
The expansion begins with a mysterious distress call coming from inside the park, with Ubisoft teasing a darker atmosphere surrounding whatever has been happening there. More information will be revealed during a dedicated Echoes of Central Park showcase on September 24, 2026.
There’s plenty coming to The Division 2, but after seven years, crossplay might be one of the most important updates the game has received. It’s taken far longer than it probably should have, but for anyone still playing The Division 2, this is a very welcome addition.
I suppose all those useless articles that were like “Does The Division 2 have crossplay will finally need to be updated.” Yeah, I said that.
