While I’m literally just getting back from the recent Summer Game Fest, I get word that one of the games I was eagerly looking forward to playing has been delayed. Valor Mortis, the first-person Soulslike from One More Level, the same team behind the fast-paced first-person titles Ghostrunner and Ghostrunner 2, has been delayed from September to October 13, 2026.
Many of you are likely aware that several games have been moved into September and October to avoid being overshadowed by the massive release that is Grand Theft Auto VI in November 2026. One More Level is no exception, though rather than pushing Valor Mortis into November, the team is moving the game to October 2026, giving players more breathing room to enjoy other games and putting less strain on their wallets.
Greetings Soldiers,
September has become absolutely stacked with incredible looking games. We knew this was a possibility, but when you’re in a Partner Showcase as we were, dates get locked weeks in advance.
We want to give Valor Mortis (and your wallet) some room to breathe.
Therefore, we’ve decided to move our release date to October 13th.In the meantime, we just launched our Demo on Steam and have been getting loads of feedback. This new date also gives us even more time to improve the game. Try it out, let us know what you think, and we’ll see you in October!
While I really want to get more hands-on time with Valor Mortis and experience dying in the comfort of my own home, I totally respect this decision. It is good for the team, as it gives them extra time to polish the game, while also respecting players’ time and money. That is always a good thing.
As for the game itself, based on what I saw at Summer Game Fest, Valor Mortis has come a long way since I last played it during PAX West 2025. Of course, if you have not had a chance to play it yet, no worries, there’s a playable demo of Valor Mortis that you can play on Steam.
Valor Mortis is currently in development for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
