Trails In The Sky First Chapter Pre-Orders Are Open

By Scott AdamsApril 16, 2025
Trails In The Sky First Chapter Pre Order graphic showing the game art for the game case

Trails in the Sky First Chapter is being published by GungHo Online Entertainment America, and it has officially announced that pre-orders are now open. Physical pre-orders for the Standard Edition of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter are now live for the Nintendo Switch™ and PlayStation 5 at major retailers. The Steam version will be available digitally upon launch.

Information regarding the Collector’s Edition will be revealed soon by Limited Run Games.

One thing in the press release that caught my eye is the following sentence:

Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter features a new localization, ensuring an authentic and engaging experience that honors the original Japanese text. Fans can look forward to experiencing classic moments with dialogue that captures both the heart and charm of the Trails series in English, German, French, or Spanish. For those who prefer the Japanese audio, a Japanese voice option will also be available, giving players the freedom to choose how they want to experience the game! – Press Release

That possibly means that the translated text we got in the Nintendo Direct might not be the text that shows up in the game. The translation that was shown in the Nintendo Direct was from the XSEED games translation that took some liberties with character personalities. Personalities that did influence how they were portrayed in the later games. It will be interesting to see how much changes with this new translation.

If you are curious about where this game fits in the Trails series, you can check out our guide on the site. This game fits as the first game in the Trails series. This is the definitive place to start the game. You can wait for the remake or grab the original on Steam!

Either way, I am excited for this remake and to see the adventures of Estelle and Joshua as Bracers in this new engine. Trails in the Sky First Chapter will be released in Fall 2025 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and PC.
