The Rumble Fish 2 Arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 With Team Battle Mode and Rollback

The Rumble Fish 2 Nintendo Switch 2 edition

3goo has released The Rumble Fish 2 Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, an enhanced version of the fighting game that features improved graphics, crossplay support with Nintendo Switch players, and a brand-new Team Battle mode, priced at $19.99. Plus, if you already own the Nintendo Switch version, either physical or digital, you can upgrade through the Upgrade Pack for $4.99.

If you’ve been around the fighting game community long enough, you’ve probably heard The Rumble Fish 2 mentioned at least once. It’s one of those cult-classic 2D fighters that never got the attention that it perhaps deserved, but it does have its fans that have loved it for what it brought to the table, especially its mechanics, and depth. Honestly, it’s the type of game that fighting game heads keep in rotation and it’s constantly being discussed on various online communities.

But let’s look at what’s new: and the Team Battle is the big hook here, and it’s exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2. Players can build a three-character team and compete online or offline, which adds an extra layer of strategy since team composition and character order can matter just as much as execution. Standard online modes support crossplay between Switch 2 and Switch players, but Team Battle itself is not included in crossplay.

Mechanically, The Rumble Fish 2 still stands out thanks to its Double Gauge System, which separates offense and defense meters and gives matches a more tactical feel than your typical 2D fighter. Online play is supported with rollback netcode to help keep matches smooth and competitive, and the game also includes a solid training suite with Record and Playback options for players who want to hit the lab and improve.

The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also includes all post-release updates and improvements, including 16:9 and 4:3 screen options, online multiplayer lobbies, and replay saving. If you’ve never given The Rumble Fish 2 a real shot, and you now own a Switch 2, this is a pretty solid reason to give it a try. Especially if you’re starving for some quality fighting games on the platform.
