Square Enix has released a new demo for The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales. Titled the “Prologue Demo,” the demo is in fact the first couple of hours of the action RPG game. Players can dive into the world of Philabieldia, a red-cloaked hero sent to explore outside his home kingdom.
The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is developed by Square Enix along with Claytechworks and Team Asano. As such, it shares the HD2D visuals of its creators’ previous titles, Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default.
However, unlike those games, The Adventures of Elliot is not turn-based. Combat happens in real time, akin to Secret of Mana or The Legend of Zelda. We recently had the opportunity to go hands-on with the game. You can read my full thoughts here. I said the game is “shaping up to be a must-play for fans of classic RPGs, while also inviting newcomers into the fold.”
In case you’re wondering, the Prologue Demo differs from the content of the final previews. I believe the section I played picks up shortly after the end of the Prologue Demo. That said, most of the inciting story events happen in the Prologue Demo. So no need to worry about spoilers from reading any of the previews.
The Prologue Demo is actually the second demo for The Adventures of Elliot. A Switch 2 demo came out in July 2025. Since then, the team has made a number of updates. I recently interviewed members of Team Asano, who spoke about the changes.
Producer Naofumi Matsushita noted that these include, “separating the map open and close buttons, allowing players to access the magicite menu immediately without navigating additional layers, and increasing the protagonist’s base movement speed, all with the goal of improving overall quality of life.”
So if you’re curious about The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, the Prologue Demo will give you a good intro to the base game. Since it consists of the opening couple of hours, save data will carry over to the full game.
And the full game of The Adventures of Elliot will be available on June 18th, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The demo is available on all of these systems as well.
