ABEMA is proud to announce the production of a sequel to Poppin-Play Kitchen (Original Concept, Director, Screenplay, and Production: Zemyata). The first release under “Project PRISMation”—an initiative aimed at creating original anime works alongside next-generation anime creators—has been greenlit for a sequel following an overwhelming response from audiences both domestically and internationally.
ABEMA launched in April 2016 and offers Japan’s only 24-hour news channel, with a strength in breaking news, as well as a wide variety of programs including original dramas, dating reality shows, animation, and sports.
Over the years, ABEMA has been streaming a wide variety of popular anime series while also producing original programs such as “Say You to Yo Asobi” and “SHIBUYA ANIME BASE”.
Beyond the streaming platform, ABEMA has also hosted large-scale offline events, including the ABEMA Anime Festival, one of Japan’s premier celebrations of anime culture.
“Project PRISMation” by ABEMA is an initiative that supports creators—who release animated works individually or in small, elite teams—by co-creating original anime pilot films. The project aims to assist in the creation of stories that leave a lasting impression on viewers and to foster creative processes that inspire the creators themselves. The name “Project PRISMation” is derived from “PRISM” and “Animation.” Just as a prism separates white light into a spectrum of vivid colors, the name embodies the goal of providing a space where diverse talents can gather and shine brightly as animated works.
Poppin-Play Kitchen, which has now been greenlit for a sequel, is the original anime pilot film released as the first installment of “Project PRISMation.” Created by Zemyata, a Thailand-based creator renowned for his vivid use of color and dark, pop-inspired worldview, the film surpassed 1 million total views on YouTube within just 10 days of its release*. It has garnered significant attention for its unique aesthetic, drawing a multitude of comments such as “thrilling,” “incredible quality,” “genius visuals and composition,” and “wonderfully cute and pop, yet horrifying.” It also received numerous comments from both domestic and international audiences, including “I’ve encountered an unbelievable masterpiece,” “looking forward to the future,” and “I’m glad indie anime is becoming popular in Japan too.” The film was also nominated for the international 47th Annual Telly Awards in the “People’s Telly” category.
*As of May 14, 2026, it has surpassed 2.13 million views, according to ABEMA research.
Coinciding with the sequel announcement, a newly drawn visual has been revealed for the first time, alongside a comment from Zemyata. Expressing his joy and enthusiasm for the sequel, Zemyata shared:
” I’d like to thank all fans of our pilot for your support, theories, and wonderful fan art of the show.” He added, ” We can’t wait to show you more of this terrible, colorful, confetti-filled world!” (Full comment below).
Furthermore, “Project PRISMation” has launched its first public call for project proposals to discover next-generation talents to co-create new stories. The project is seeking “Short Original Anime Proposals” alongside “Expansion Plans” depicting the future of the work. Projects selected through a rigorous review process by “ABEMA” will receive production funding for a short original anime, as well as comprehensive support to deliver the work to the world, including promotion and commercial expansion.
There are no restrictions on eligibility; applications are open to anyone regardless of professional or amateur status, age, gender, or nationality. We eagerly await proposals that give shape to the “captivating characters” and “intense worldviews” in your imagination.
