Phantom Blade Zero, the upcoming hack-and-slash action game from S-GAME that definitely is not a Soulslike, has been delayed. Originally scheduled to launch on September 9, 2026, Phantom Blade Zero will now release on October 29, 2026. That’s a 50-day delay and has been confirmed by the official Phantom Blade Zero social media account following today’s State of Play, where it was also revealed that pre-orders for the game will open this summer.
According to S-GAME, the extra time will be used to polish the game and make sure it launches in the best shape possible. That includes upgraded character models, reworked environments, and additional visual improvements that are being made without relying entirely on ray tracing to look good. Which is good, because not everyone is going to be playing this with ray tracing enabled, and the game still needs to look sharp without it.
Hello everyone,
As many of you just saw in today’s State of Play, pre-orders for Phantom Blade Zero will open this summer!
At the same time, I want to share another update: Phantom Blade Zero will now launch on October 29, 2026, moved from its previous date of September 9,… pic.twitter.com/hsAvGDMaFO

Honestly, I am fine with this. A delay is never fun, especially when a game looks as slick as this one does, but if the extra time helps make Phantom Blade Zero feel better on day one, then it is probably the right call. We have seen enough games launch in rough shape and get patched later. If S-GAME wants to avoid that, I am not going to complain.
S-GAME also confirmed that a new trailer will be released alongside pre-orders this summer, featuring new in-game footage. After that, Phantom Blade Zero will receive its own dedicated State of Play presentation, running between 15 and 20 minutes, with a deeper look at the game’s world, combat, exploration, and character progression systems.
Now, I’ve played Phantom Blade Zero twice now, once during Summer Game Fest 2024 and again during CES 2026. During the latter, I had access to a much larger slice of the game, which you can read about in my CES 2026 hands-on preview, and I thought what I played was fantastic. So, if S-GAME is telling me it still needs more time to polish up the game, then who am I to doubt the extra time needed to make it even better?
I will be there in line, ready to buy the game.
Phantom Blade Zero is now scheduled to release on October 29, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
