Nintendo Direct and Switch Successor Rumors Run Rampant

Just when you thought it was safe to go onto the internet and not be inundated with rumors, speculation, and leaks, you’d be wrong! That goes double if you are a Nintendo fan like me, as we’ve been dealing with LOTS of rumors and speculations about what will happen with The Big N during the entirety of 2024. But today, the floodgates have seemingly been opened, and people of all walks of “new sources life” have been spouting non-specific things about the alleged Nintendo Direct that’s coming up and the potential “reveal” of the Switch successor.

Let’s start with the Nintendo Direct. Many, including here at The Outerhaven, believe that we’ll get a Direct this month, as it’s basically a tradition at this point. However, a new “rumor” states that the one we might get…is a Partner’s Showcase. This comes from infamous “insider” Nate The Hate, who stated on the latest episode of his podcast that the Direct, which he feels will be next week, won’t feature anything 1st party:

“I don’t think Nintendo will host a general Direct this February. I think they’re going to do third-parties instead.”

If this holds up, that would be the first Direct in some time that was a “Partner’s Showcase,” which won’t make fans happy, depending on what’s shown. But wait! Nate had more to say, and another Nintendo insider picked it up. This time, though, it was about the Nintendo Switch successor:

According to NateTheHate, Nintendo is "poised and ready" for a Switch 2 reveal in March.

The next few months could potentially be extremely crazy.

Nintendo has said that they’ll only reveal their next console “when they’re ready,” so could it be March? Or is Nate just spouting rumors for rumors’ sake? We’ll have to wait and find out!
