The 2002 TV anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex remains popular in Japan and abroad. Yoko Kanno’s music expresses the chaos of a futuristic society by blending a cyberpunk world in a not-so-far-off future with sounds reminiscent of Eastern European folk songs, jazz, and rock alongside multilingual vocals such as Russian, English, and Italian. The full soundtrack has been previously released on five CD albums and is scheduled to be re-released on vinyl on July 22 and August 26.
In commemoration of the upcoming release, official audio of all 81 songs from all five albums (excluding bonus tracks) has been uploaded to FlyingDog’s official YouTube channel.
