Marvel Tōkon revealed some huge news. For instance, both the Champion and the Promoter have gameplay as actual characters. Usually, the boss’ prime secretary isn’t meant to fight right out the gate, but throughout fighting game history, this has either been redacted within the second or so appearance of the secretary character.
Introducing Episode Mode!
Written by legendary comic writer Kieron Gillen, Episode Mode in #MARVELTokon: Fighting Souls features five unique stories, each brought to life by a different artist and following a different team as they face the looming threat of the Champion.

For instance, Gill’s secretary, Kolin, became a playable character in Street Fighter V – years after her debut in the Street Fighter III. Lore wise, V came before III. Vice and Mature, from The King of Fighters ended up being on Iori’s team in The King of Fighters ’96 even though they were literally Rugal’s “employees”.
The Promoter already gives off the gimmick throw-trash fighter style with a barrier armor. The Promoter can teleport, also. The Promoter seems to be the skill check to deem who is worthy to enter. The Champion also gets to throw down in this short.
There might even be a chance to see these two as playable characters. But for now, this has yet to be confirmed. The beatdown that the Champion gives, however, is all confirmed. Knowing how hero focused fighting games go, this is probably the first phase of The Champion. Just look at Apocolypse, Onslaught and Abyss, from the Marvel vs Capcom series.
Kieron Gillen is the writer behind Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls with about 10 hours of comic style panels, fights, and the like. 5 Episodes are coming based on the character teams lead by Dr. Doom, Captain America, Storm, Spider-Man, and Ghost Rider. Each story will be done by different artists so there might be some favorites as they go up against the Champion to save Earth.
San Diego Comic Con will reveal more for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls in the next few weeks. Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launches on August 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and PC.
