New Report Reveals Profits of Various Anime Studios

Have you ever wondered how much money an anime studio makes in profit? A new report released in Japan’s Official Gazette that disclosed just how much profit some anime studios make each year, and some of the numbers are quite surprising. The Official Gazette is a publication in Japan that contains detailed financial information on Japan-based companies.

Below you will find the list of anime studios and their profits:

  • Studio Ghibli — 4.97 billion yen (~US$34.9 million)
  • Bandai Namco Filmworks — 3.76 billion yen (~US$24.6 million)
  • Production I.G. — 358 million yen (~US$2.51 million)
  • Wit Studio — 271 million yen (~US$1.9 million)
  • CloverWorks — 203 million yen (~US$1.42 million)
  • Marza Animation Planet — 83.5 million yen (~US$586,458)
  • Kinema Citrus — 72.6 million yen (~US$509,886)
  • CygamesPictures — 63 million yen (~US$442,477)
  • Studio Chiptune — 61.2 million yen — (~US$429,822)
  • Colorido — 28 million yen — (~US$196,656)
  • Kusanagi — 27 million yen (~US$189,633)
  • A-1 Pictures — 25 million yen (~US$175,580)
