We have been following the reimaging of DragonSword: Awakening for a while now. From the game’s reveal to the project changing hands completely to developer HOUND13, to the recent character trailers for Kalien and Theresia, this has quickly become one of the action RPGs worth keeping an eye on.
Now, HOUND13 has released another short gameplay trailer, this time focused on the character known as Lute. Compared to the recent reveals for Kalien, the fire magic-wielding character, and Theresia, who dishes out damage with dual flails, Lute comes across as a much more grounded fighter at first glance.
In the new trailer, Lute is shown wielding a longsword and fighting more like a traditional knight-style character. His combat appears to focus on sword-based combos, quick movement, and controlled strikes rather than the flashier, more chaotic attacks we saw from the previous character reveals. That does not mean the trailer is boring, though, as it also gives us another look at the game’s lush environments and traversal.
One of the more interesting parts of the trailer shows Lute mounting and dismounting from what appears to be a griffin-like creature. It is a brief moment, but it helps sell the larger adventure aspect of DragonSword: Awakening, especially as the trailer moves through a bright, green landscape that gives the game a different visual tone from the previous combat showcases.
Interesting enough, if you pay attention to the video, you’ll see that two other characters, Aria and Castella were also shown as part of the party but now shown in the video. I suppose we’ll get to see them as the next round of characters.
Like the other character trailers, this one is still very short, but it remains impressive. While Lute may not look as wild as Kalien or Theresia, his gameplay shows a cleaner, more direct combat style that could appeal to players who prefer swords, timing, and combo-based action over pure spectacle.
DragonSword: Awakening is currently planned for release on Steam in July 2026, with a demo expected to arrive during June 2026. You can also check out our previous coverage, where we looked at the game’s major rework and why DragonSword: Awakening looks like a breakout action RPG.
