Get ready to check out the cutest book about the cutest game with the cutest cats ever! No, seriously. This book is adorable and great for readers of all ages. Adults who loved the game will enjoy getting this as a gift and children who like cats will like reading the poetry as the kitties celebrate the seasons.

Packaged in a giftable and fun smaller trimsize, this book is loaded with kitty haiku based loosely upon a seasonal theme. Starting with Spring, each page contains illustrations and a corresponding haiku. Some of the poems talk about the seasons, others barely approach the weather or time of year. A lot of poems are just a celebration of cats and their habits throughout the seasons.

This book will be useful for those who still need to collect a few missing cats. if you were looking for a specific kitty, the guides in this book will surely teach you what toys the special cats are looking for. I can’t say for sure if it was intentional or just what happens when you base a giftbook on an older mobile game because this book does have hints on how to collect any cats you’re missing. The game left you in the dark about cats you didn’t meet, representing them with question marks. All of the cats are featured in this book and appear mostly in the order that they seem to arrive in the game (at least in my game).

Final Word:

I think this is a perfect gift for that cat lover in your life with a strange addiction to Neko Atsume Kitty Collector. I read it in one sitting on the subway and immediately attracted people from nearby who were asking me where they could get a copy of the book. The brand recognition made it easy to strike up a conversation about the game with people sitting nearby.

The Haikus are cute and make this an accessible book for children. I can’t talk for new generations but for me, Haikus were introduced in the third grade. Assuming nothing has changed, an elementary school student shouldn’t have any issues reading this book alone or with assistance.

Put this on your list next time you’re shopping for a gift for yourself or someone else.
