Cold Symmetry has finally revealed the release plans for Mortal Shell II, and fans won’t have to wait much longer to get their hands on it. The sequel to the brutal action RPG will launch worldwide on August 20 for Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-orders are now live with the Standard Edition priced at $49.99.
Alongside the release date, Cold Symmetry also revealed the Mortal Shell II Devout Edition, a digital deluxe version of the game that includes eight Obsidian Shell skins. Players who pre-order the Devout Edition will also be able to play the game up to three days early. That version is priced at $59.99.
For those who still prefer a physical release, the previously announced PS5-only Mortal Shell II: Revered Edition is also still on the way. It will release on August 20 alongside the digital editions and includes the Obsidian Skin set, a comprehensive artbook, an exclusive steelbook, limited edition fine art prints, and a special collector’s box, priced at $69.99.
It’s a shame that this physical edition doesn’t have a statue of Harros (he will be missed), but I’m definitely getting this as well as a copy for PC to support the developers.
I’m glad we finally have a release date, especially since I’ve been playing the heck out of the demo on Steam, and I’m honestly tired of being limited to that small slice of the game. Not tired because I’m bored of it, but because what I’ve played has shown that Cold Symmetry has clearly learned a thing or two from the original Mortal Shell.
Everything feels better this time around. The combat, the dialogue, the action, the mechanics, all of it feels sharper and more confident. The demo did exactly what a good demo should do: it made me want to stop replaying the same section and dive into the full game already.
Cold Symmetry also shared that the Mortal Shell II beta has already surpassed 600,000 downloads, pulled in more than 6 million views across YouTube, Twitch, and shortform video, and is currently sitting at a 93% positive rating on Steam. That lines up with the excitement I’ve seen around the game, and after spending time with the demo myself, I get it.
Thankfully, it won’t be too much longer now, as Mortal Shell II launches on August 20 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
