EA Sports has detailed the first major title update for Madden NFL 27, arriving tomorrow with new 2026 NFL x Nike Rivalries uniforms, Franchise Mode fixes, and a wide range of Superstar stability improvements. The new rivalry uniforms will be available for the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, and Minnesota Vikings.
Franchise Mode is getting several important fixes, including a solution for excessive early-game CPU injuries caused by accelerated Wear and Tear accumulation. College Coach abilities will now unlock correctly in newly created Franchise leagues, while issues causing created players to disappear after importing custom rosters and incorrect Void Year cap calculations have also been addressed. EA is also continuing to investigate community concerns surrounding free agency, roster management, salary cap progression, player retirements, CPU decision making, and Multi-User Franchise Weekly Recap.
Superstar is receiving numerous stability improvements, including fixes for crashes in Showdown, Avatar customization, gear purchases, contract signing, Franchise Superstar games, and post-game progression. EA is also investigating additional Superstar Storefront transaction issues and rare crashes. Meanwhile, tomorrow’s update will not include major gameplay changes, but a smaller gameplay-focused update is planned for next week. That update will address unnecessary receiver jumps, holding penalties with Aggressive Blocking enabled, defensive alignment when Auto Flip is active, and blocker reactions to contain rushers.
Next week’s update will also introduce several presentation improvements based on player feedback. Offline Franchise players will receive a fix for the halftime report softlock, while Custom Adjustments navigation will now wrap around from the top of the list to the bottom. EA says it will continue addressing community feedback and provide further updates through future Gridiron Notes and Madden NFL Direct.
