A lot is riding on the upcoming Superman film by James Gunn. While many are excited for it, there are just as many who are unsure about the film’s look, its tone, and more. So, you know, just another day of judging something before it releases. In honor of the Man of Steel’s special day, James Gunn released a special behind-the-scenes look at the film with various insights from him, fellow DCU co-head Peter Safran, and, of course, the cast of the film. There’s plenty to talk about with the film, and the cast makes the most of it.
One of the key things that fans will notice is the use of practical effects and real settings to help make the movie feel more “grounded” and real. Even characters like Metamorpho are shown to be done with practical effects and not CGI. That is a staple of James Gunn when he’s able to pull it off.
Superman arrives in theaters on July 11th.
