Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment Team Confirm Future Content Updates

What will they contain, we wonder?
By Todd BlackNovember 6, 2025
Hyrule Warriors Age Of Imprisonment, Koei Tecmo, Nintendo Switch 2

Today was another big day for Nintendo fans, as Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment released for the Nintendo Switch 2, marking the hit console’s latest exclusive title. The game is a canonical entry in the franchise, further detailing the events of Princess Zelda during her journey in the early days of Hyrule. Like most Musou games, the title will let you unleash powerful strikes and attacks on enemies, wiping them out by the hundreds. Koei Tecmo is the master of these titles, and a special post by them made it clear that they want to have you playing the game for a while.

On the game’s Japanese Twitter handle, the team revealed that two special free updates are coming:

“We plan to release two free updates in the future to let you enjoy *Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment* for even longer.”

That’s fascinating, as the previous entry, Age of Calamity, had both updates and the two-part Expansion Pass, which added more weapons and characters for players to enjoy. Koei Tecmo wants players to “look forward” to what’s coming, so it’s possible that we could get these updates sooner rather than later.

Plus, it would be interesting if the updates, or the potential expansion pass, added not just more characters, but even more story for gamers to enjoy. Time will tell, but for now, just go and enjoy the game and see what secrets Hyrule has to offer!
