HIKARU UTADA Debuts Electricity Remix with SALUTE

By Josh PiedraMarch 31, 2025

The highly anticipated third remix of J-pop superstar HIKARU UTADA’s track “Electricity” is out today, offering another fresh take on Hikaru Utada’s acclaimed track, this time courtesy of Manchester-based producer salute. Today’s release is the third remix of the track following February’s release of the Karen Nyame KG remix and, most recently, another version by Arca, which was released alongside an exclusive interview feature with i-D detailing their collaboration.

Featured on the global superstar’s 2024 best-of album SCIENCE FICTION, the original track was produced in collaboration with Sam Shepherd (Floating Points), its infectious chorus and jazzy instrumentation making it an immediate standout on the collection.

The track was performed as part of the encore at several shows during their tour, winning over fans and serving as a testament to Utada’s ongoing creative brilliance. This latest rework comes from salute, the Manchester-based producer redefining the global electronic scene. With a Boiler Room performance in Melbourne surpassing 1 million views and appearances at Glastonbury, Field Day, and Coachella among others, salute has cemented their place as one of today’s most exciting dance creators. Now, they bring their signature sound to “Electricity,” infusing the track with a bold, new energy that takes it to electrifying heights.
