Dead Space Remake officially confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC

I refused to believe that EA was doing something with the Dead Space series for the longest time. I fought off the rumors and kept thinking that Dead Space was dead. Then EA finally lets the secret out that they were working on something related to the title during EA Play Live. But just a tease. Yes, they showed off a couple of seconds of Dead Space 1, with updated textures and then fade to black. If that wasn’t the biggest tease ever, I don’t know what it was. Either way,

We got a few seconds of footage that ended by showing the silent protagonist, Issac Clark, and the eerie Twinkle Twinkle Little Star theme that the series is known for. At the very least, we can confirm that Dead Space is official and is being worked on. This is the first game getting the remake treatment, as indicated by the bloody clue about cutting off their limbs.

Update: The official summary was included with the teaser trailer.

The sci-fi survival horror classic Dead Space returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up by Motive Studios to offer a deeper and more immersive experience. Harnessing the power of the Frostbite game engine and next generation consoles, this remake brings jaw-dropping visual fidelity and improvements to gameplay while staying true to the original. Dead Space will be available on PlayStation®5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
Isaac Clarke is an everyman engineer on a mission to repair a vast, sprawling starship, the USG Ishimura, only to discover something has gone horribly wrong. The ship’s crew has been slaughtered and infected by some alien scourge…and Isaac’s beloved partner, Nicole, is lost somewhere on board.
Now Isaac is alone with only his tools and engineering skills as he attempts to uncover the nightmarish mystery of what happened aboard the Ishimura. Trapped with hostile creatures called “necromorphs”, Isaac faces a battle for survival, not only against the escalating terrors of the ship, but his own crumbling sanity.

Being a massive fan of the series, I really could have done with some actual gameplay. Oh well, hopefully, we’ll get to see that later this year.  I’m psyched now. I take back everything I said about the game not happening.

When can we expect Dead Space Remake?

Seeing how the game was just announced, it’s likely we won’t see the Dead Space remake until sometime in 2022. However, thanks to the official trailer released, we know that this is only heading to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Yes, this is only headed to next-gen consoles and being developed in the Frostbite gaming engine. This means we should expect updated visuals and, more than likely, 4K resolution, among other things. I’m also hoping that perhaps the PC version will also see widescreen monitor support.
