At Anime Expo 2026, MangaPlaza brought Boys Love (BL), Girls Love (GL), and Romance lovers together during their interactive panel.
Panel hosts Daniel Dueñas and Laura Neuzeth connected with the audience, encouraging everyone to shout out their favorite tropes in manga or the ones they find themselves reading the most. The most popular answers called out were enemies to lovers, one bed, friends to lovers, and office romance, which led into a discussion of hot titles featured on MangaPlaza.
Daniel and Laura dove into beloved titles, including:
- Keeping You in Sight, Plus-Sized Misadventures in Love
- I Don’t Need This Ring Anymore
- Satan on Parental Leave and His Fake Hero
- Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko
- The Consultant Amalthea and Her Marriage
- After Giving Up on Our Relationship and Distancing Myself, My Salty Fiance Began to Pester Me
- The Wicked Woman of High Society: The Charming Marquis’s Son Broke My Arm, So I’m Making Him Take Responsibility
Each title followed a specific trope, and the audience was encouraged to discuss their thoughts with the panelists and each other. Once the tropes were decided, they were added to the list on screen.
Daniel called out three tropes they and Laura liked the most, one by one, and invited panel attendees to clap to vote for their favorite. The loudest applause won. After the votes were cast, it was clear that enemies-to-lovers was the winner. Daniel laughed and said that this means the audience is a healthy bunch and is obviously great at communicating.
During the quiz portion, attendees needed to guess the line that came next in the manga panel on screen. Laura and Daniel expressed that this was the part of the panel they were the most excited about. Attendees came with their knowledge and answered the questions with ease and speed.
The panel ended with a giveaway of two lucky colored prints of an original illustration by the author of The Ogre’s Bride. “If you need to feel again, you need to read The Ogre’s Bride,” Daniel offered, encouraging the audience to do themselves a favor and read the beautiful story.
All of the attendees received a 100-point coupon; a great way to find something on MangaPlaza that makes their hearts race!
MangaPlaza’s booth was packed with manga lovers throughout Anime Expo weekend. Attendees took photos at the The Ogre’s Bride photo spot in celebration of the anime’s release this month. Fans also took to the reading corner provided by the booth as a way to explore the wide variety of manga offered by MangaPlaza.
The BL title The Seduction of the Deep Sleeper was the first to sell out, as many attendees purchased the complete three-volume set. Additionally, the romance manga Kurosaki Wants Me All to Himself ~The Intense Sweetness of First Love~ sold out, while Dinners with My Darling: How the Former Monster King Ate Her Way to Happiness proved popular as well, with only a single copy remaining.
Attendees were encouraged to purchase the MangaPlaza original, Pardon the Intrusion, I’m Home! (Full Color), which now has an anime series. This series drew crowds to the panel and garnered a positive reception for the teaser video shown at the booth.
