Alcatel Announces Windows 10 Variant of their Flagship Idol 4S, Exclusive to T-Mobile

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieNovember 3, 2016

While Windows 10 Mobile seems to be all but forgotten, Alcatel is trying to keep the brand alive by introducing a Windows variant of their newest flagship phone, the Idol 4S.

The company announced on Tuesday that the Idol 4S with Windows 10, the first of its kind with VR capabilities, will available to T-Mobile customers on November 10. The phone will include a pair of Idol 4S VR Glasses, a 45-day trial of Hulu Plus, a 1-month trial of Microsoft Groove, Microsoft’s streaming music service, and a copy of Halo: Spartan Assault. The phone will debut at a $470 price point, and as is the case with all T-Mobile Unlimited Simple Choice and T-Mobile ONE plans, a 24-month payment agreement option.

The Idol 4S with Windows 10 features Windows Continuum, which allows users to connect their phones to a display, keyboard and mouse, effectively bringing the Windows 10 desktop experience to mobile users. The Idol 4S joins the Acer Liquid Jade Primo and the HP Elite x3 as the latest Windows Continuum enabled phone.

Windows 10 Mobile has slowly lost what little market share they had, smaller phone companies such as Alcatel have been wholly committed to the platform.
