Recently, Konami held a press and media event for its upcoming title, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. While we weren’t invited, and seriously, I’m not saddened at all, the event has resulted in a wave of previews being released alongside roughly 10 minutes of gameplay footage that I recently stumbled across, thanks to Famistu.
While the previews have all been extremely positive, it’s the gameplay footage that has me excited. There’s no commentary, no annoying overlays, and nothing else getting in the way. It’s just 10 minutes of uninterrupted Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse gameplay, showing Rose Belmont whipping her way through enemies, exploring the environment, and tackling some familiar-looking platforming challenges.
Unfortunately, all of the text shown in the footage is in Japanese, and mine isn’t nearly good enough to understand everything happening on the screen. Still, if you wanted to see how the game is shaping up ahead of its release, this gameplay footage should have you reaching for your whip.
Development of Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is being handled jointly by Konami and Evil Empire, with Motion Twin providing advisory support and Konami publishing the game. Evil Empire and Motion Twin already have some history with the franchise, as both studios previously worked with Konami on Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania, so this isn’t their first time playing around with the Belmonts, Dracula, and everything else that goes bump in the night.
As for the music, Evil Empire sound and music designer Aymeric Schwartz is working on the game, though Konami has not revealed the complete composer lineup. Sadly, longtime Castlevania composer Michiru Yamane has confirmed that she is not involved with Belmont’s Curse.

For those who may not have been keeping up, Rose Belmont is the daughter of Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades. You did watch Netflix’s Castlevania series, didn’t you? Rose will continue the fight started by her parents as she takes up the legendary Vampire Killer and heads into battle against the immortal Dracula, who apparently refuses to stay dead no matter how many Belmonts come knocking at his castle.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is set to release on Thursday, October 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and Nintendo Switch.
