Towerborne: The Hidden Gem of 2024’s Gaming Lineup That’s Worth Watching

If you like brawlers, keep an eye out for this game

Towerborne heading to early access on Steam and Xbox

While everyone is getting excited over Avowed and other upcoming Xbox titles, there’s one title in particular that keeps getting lost in the news: Towerborne.

Towerborne is an upcoming 2D side-scrolling brawler that allows up to 4 players in local or online co-op. It’s being developed for the Xbox Series X|S and PC (Windows Store and Steam). The game will drop players into the City of Numbers, an apocalyptic fantasy world overrun with monsters and other baddies. It’s up to you to save it.

What I find interesting about Towerborne is that it lets players pick up various arms, such as swords, daggers, gauntlets, clubs, and shields, among other weapons. Additionally, the game features RPG elements, allowing players to complete objectives and missions to unlock new locations.

I’ve seen some previews of the game, and while I’m not the least bit jealous (yes I am), they were possible. Some even mentioned the game reminded them of Castle Crashers, and Diablo, all of which is a positive. As for me, I grew up on these types of games and am getting a Guardian Heroes vibe from it. The latter is one of my favorite games on the Sega Saturn and remains one of my all-time favorite brawlers. If Stotic, the developer, can capture all of the aforementioned game’s DNA into this title, it will have a hit on its hands.

Towerborne was initially revealed during the 2023 Xbox Games Showcase, and it’s been some time since we’ve heard anything about the game. This may be why it has been somewhat lost in the shuffle. Stotic has committed to a 2024 release date. With five months left in the year and no recent updates, the calendar is winding down.

While we’re waiting for Towerborne to drop, you can head over to Steam to wishlist the game.
