The Inaugural American Manga Awards Announced

The American Manga Awards have been created and the inaugural ceremony is set to take place on August 22, 2024! The American Manga Awards is a collaboration between Anime NYC creators, LeftField Media, and the non-profit Japan Society organization.

Author and translator Matt Alt will host the ceremony and reception which aims to honor professionals in the manga intrustry. The initial categories for the awards are as follows:

  • Mangaka Hall of Fame
  • Manga Publishing Hall of Fame
  • Best New Manga
  • Best Continuing Manga Series
  • Best New Edition of Classic Manga
  • Best Translation
  • Best Lettering
  • Best Publication Design

Entrants to the Manga Hall of Fame and Manga Publishing Hall of Fame will be selected via a committee. These are considered lifetime achievement awards for their impact and creative influence on North America. Nominations for the other categories will be selected via a panel of journalists, librarians, and reviewers.

Titles are eligible if they have been published in English (print or digital) between August 1, 2023 and July 30, 2024.
